We present novel evidence for the influence of malaria exposure on geographic location Chinese economic activities in Africa. The hypothesis is based observation that many aid projects and infrastructure contractors rely personnel. High might constitute an important impediment to their employment productivity. Combining data construction with geo-localized information about presence individuals from internet posts reveals a lower density workers areas high exposure. This effect mitigated partly through heterogeneity across sectors immunity local population, selection regions China historically risk, availability treatment.

Malaria Clusters among Illegal Chinese Immigrants to Europe through Africa
Between November 2002 and March 2003, 17 cases of malaria (1 fatal) were observed in illegal Chinese immigrants who traveled to Italy through Africa. A further cluster of 12 was reported in August, 2002. Scaling up malaria control in Africa: an economic and epidemiological assessment.
This paper estimates the number of people at risk of contracting malaria in Africa using GIS methods and the disease's epidemiologic characteristics. It then estimates yearly costs of covering the population at risk with the package of interventions (differing by level of malaria endemicity and differing for rural and urban populations) for malaria as recommended by the UN Millennium Project. T...
Climate Change and Vector-borne Diseases: An Economic Impact Analysis of Malaria in Africa
A semi-parametric econometric model is used to study the relationship between malaria cases and climatic factors in 25 African countries. Results show that a marginal change in temperature and precipitation levels would lead to a significant change in the number of malaria cases for most countries by the end of the century. Consistent with the existing biophysical malaria model results, the pro...
